Durometer is a measure of hardness for rubber and plastics, read on Shore scales with an indenter gauge. Shore A covers soft elastomers, with most seals and gaskets between 40A and 80A; Shore D covers harder materials. Durometer is typically specified with a tolerance of ±5 points.
Also called Shore hardness
Testing follows ASTM D2240. A durometer callout alone does not define a compound, so specify the polymer and grade too.
