SSG MFG exposes the same estimator, catalog and RFQ desk the builder uses to any AI agent. Connect Claude, ChatGPT or your own agent to the MCP server at /api/mcp, call the REST API, or use the WebMCP tools registered in the browser. No key needed to estimate.

The MCP server is remote and stateless. Add it wherever your agent reads MCP servers.
claude mcp add --transport http ssgmfg https://ssgmfg.com/api/mcpPick a sample part and run it. This calls POST /api/v1/estimate on this site, the same endpoint and response your agent gets.

| Method | Path | What it does |
|---|---|---|
| POST | /api/v1/estimate | Budgetary estimate, price breaks, DFM and alternatives for one part or { parts: [...] } |
| GET | /api/v1/estimate?spec=… | Same, with a base64url-encoded part spec (link-friendly) |
| GET | /api/v1/catalog?type=… | processes, materials, finishes, industries, terms, templates — or one entry with &slug= |
| POST | /api/v1/rfq | Send an RFQ to SSG. A rep routes it to matched principals and replies by email |
| POST | /api/mcp | MCP server (Streamable HTTP, JSON-RPC 2.0) |
| GET | /openapi.json | OpenAPI 3.1 description of the REST API |
| GET | /llms.txt · /llms-full.txt | Site summary and full catalog as plain text for language models |

For agents that browse: tools registered with document.modelContext on every page.
Browsers with WebMCP (Chrome's early preview and later) see five tools on ssgmfg.com: list processes, look up an entry, estimate a part, open it in the 3D builder, and request quotes. Sending an RFQ asks the user to confirm first. The tools call the same public API, so results match the builder exactly.
Not for estimates, catalog reads or the MCP server. Requests are rate limited per IP. RFQs are free to send; a rep reviews each one. Contact us for higher limits or a partner key.
They are budgetary estimates from SSG's cost models, typically within 15–35% depending on how complete the part description is. Firm quotes come from principals after a rep routes the RFQ.
Show the user the parts, quantities and estimate, and get explicit confirmation. The request_quotes tool and the WebMCP tool both expect the user's own name and email. Never invent contact details.
Yes. Every estimate response includes next.open_in_builder, a /build link with the spec encoded, so the user can see the part in 3D, adjust it and send the RFQ themselves.
