AS9100: AS9100 is the quality management system standard for aviation, space, and defense suppliers. It adds requirements to ISO 9001 for configuration management, product safety, counterfeit part prevention, and first article inspection per AS9102. Many aerospace primes require it from suppliers of flight hardware.
RFQ: An RFQ is a request for quotation, the package a buyer sends suppliers to get prices for a specific part. A complete RFQ includes a 3D model, 2D drawing, material, finish, annual volume, release quantities, and required certifications. Missing details lead to padded or non-comparable quotes.
Reshoring: Reshoring is moving production that had been offshore back to the buyer's home country. Buyers reshore to shorten lead times, cut inventory, reduce tariff and freight exposure, and protect intellectual property. It pays off when quotes are compared on landed cost, not piece price.
